“We feel that sending our children to The San Francisco School has been one of the best decisions we could have made. They are thriving and so are we.” Thank you for your interest in The San Francisco School! We look forward to getting to know you and your family. The San Francisco School is an independent, coeducational day school for preschool through eighth grade students. SFS is a vibrant educational community with a focus on strong academics, conceptual understanding, critical thinking and creative expression. Founded in 1966 as a preschool, SFS has grown to include 275 students, 34 faculty members, and 235 families. The San Francisco School is committed to ethnic and cultural diversity, with 50% students of color and an inclusive ethos. Family economic diversity, also an important goal, is achieved through a moderate tuition, the school’s location in a modest neighborhood, and a strong indexed tuition program which supports 30% of students on reduced tuition. Through all of this, the entire SFS community is committed to creating a school where students and families can live and learn with confidence and joy. Finding the right school for your child can be a daunting task. At The San Francisco School, we strive to be open and honest with our process. The most important step is to visit a school and to recognize your first impression. Often times, that initial feeling is the most telling and accurate. Therefore, we encourage all prospective families to visit the school, as well as other schools that spark your interest. Throughout your exploration of The San Francisco, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office for any reason at all. We look forward to hearing from you and hope to meet you soon!
