What does peace look like?
Peace looks like newborn puppies feeling around for their mother.
It looks like snow dancing on the wind on a cold winter night.
Peace looks like a bear rolling over,
Like doves in the bright blue sky,
Like the leaves on the big tree near my house,
Like monks making a sand mandala.
What does peace smell like?
It smells like roses on a summer day,
Like my mom baking muffins in the kitchen,
Like the math paper I work with.
Peace tastes like cold ice tea,
Like sweet raspberries in a pink cup.
Peace tastes like a carrot fresh from the ground
Grown with my own two hands.
What does peace sound like?
Like the wind from the west,
Like my little sister having a nap,
Snoring and talking in her sleep.
Peace sounds like a willow tree shaking in the wind,
Like my dad popping popcorn in the kitchen
While I am reading in the living room,
Like the laughing of people,
Like birds calling to each other.
What does peace feel like?
It feels like the warm chest feathers of a young falcon,
Like coming into a warm house on a rainy day.
It feels like dozing off into a wonderful sleep,
Like breathing in and out.
Peace feels like a shower of calmness over me,
Like my dreams coming true.
Peace is so quiet that you hardly know it’s there.
But you know it’s there.
