Inside SFS

Carla Morris

South Class Preschool & Kindergarten Head Teacher

Carla was born in Michigan, but has lived in California most of her life – and in San Francisco, specifically, for 28 years. She earned a BA in Studio Art from UC Santa Barbara and spent 20+ years in a successful career in creative services for mail order. As a catalog manager and Art Director, her clients included retailers such as Pottery Barn, West Elm, Design Within Reach and Restoration Hardware.

In 2010, she switched gears to fulfill a long-time dream of becoming a teacher by joining the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI), receiving a California Teaching Credential from SF State. She gained broad experience working at Live Oak School in San Francisco, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School in San Mateo, and Head Royce School in Oakland before eventually landing at SFS. She has served on the Teacher/Administration Team (TAT) for the past two years before being asked to join the Board of Trustees.

Though passionate about teaching, when not in the classroom you’ll find Carla enjoying the hunt for treasures in thrift stores and flea markets, diligently trying to buy back her beloved college record collection (one used CD at a time), and enjoying “stay-cations” with good friends throughout the Bay Area.
