SFS Student Mitchell Rusitzky, Wins Film Contest
This fall SFS Eighth Grader, Mitchell Rusitzky, submitted a short film to the Climate Action Film Contest hosted by the San Francisco Green Film Festival, and won!
Mitchell used a GoPro camera mounted to his chest to film a Walk-in-Thursday morning, where SFS parents and students (and dogs) join together to walk to school. He filmed the Noe Valley and Glen Park walking group and made four versions of the film before settling on the final entry. The final version features the Earth Day Rap and several parent interviews. According to Mitchell he hopes viewers get the message that “it’s really good to walk because it’s fun and it also takes cars off the road.”
The Climate Action Film Contest was created to provide budding filmmakers with the opportunity to share their passion for being green in the community and the chance to see their work on the big screen. Mitchell won 1st place in the K-8thgrade category and his short film will be screened at the 2016 San Francisco Green Film Festival. This is Mitchell’s first film entry and we are so proud of his success!
