Inside SFS

New Family Picnic Recap

This past weekend the Diversity Committee and Public Purpose Committee hosted a welcome picnic for new families.

The Diversity Committee (DC) and the Public Purpose Committee (PPC) warmly welcomed new SFS families to the community this past Sunday. Despite the rain, over fifty students, parents, trustees, administrators and faculty gathered as the picnic was taken indoors to Barebottle Brew Co. in Bernal Heights. In addition to the potluck spread, which included a diverse array of food (including Latino and Filipino sweets!), there was a broad gamut of locally inspired libations brewed on site and a fusion of world flavors from the Me So Hungry food truck.

The children happily swarmed around tables of art supplies, shuffleboard, and French fries. Their grownups exchanged introductions and stories. There were animated rounds of ping pong and cornhole; Portola map coloring and Lego building; big smiles, full bellies and happy laughter. And most importantly, current and new families came together to know more about each other, life at The San Francisco School, and the works of two board committees.
