The first ever Family Science Night, hosted last Wednesday by the Family Association and our friends at the Lawrence Hall of Science, was an exciting and engaging success!
The rain couldn’t stop dozens of SFS families, with children of all ages, from letting their inner engineers and architects run free in the Community Center. There were ten different hands-on applied engineering activities for them to try.
Facilitated by volunteers from our school community along with Lawrence Hall of Science’s guidance and materials, SFS guardians and students worked cooperatively on building with a variety of mediums: Magna tiles, Kapla blocks, Da Vinci Bridges, and pattern blocks.
Kids got to draw cool designs using wobble bots, predict 3-dimensional shapes with paper folding, and the sky was the limit with stomp rockets!
A big thank you to the Lawrence Hall of Science, to the volunteers for helping with activity tables and for bringing appetizers to share, and to all attendees for braving the storm for an awesome collaborative event!
