Exploring science through paper engineering and fruit dissection
Elementary STEAM Coordinator Jalen Allen ’08 and STEAM Teaching Assistant River Castaneda ’14 held a 4th and 5th Grade STEAM extravaganza on October 14, 2022. Student scientists led a few activities in paper engineering and fruit dissection, demonstrating their knowledge of the scientific method, technical skills, and the design process.
Between the Learning Commons in the heart of the campus and the Field Station in the Adventure Playground, it was amazing to see students and family members laughing and playing together.
Thanks to those of you who were able to join last Friday for a wonderful afternoon of STEAM! It was amazing to see students and family members laughing and playing together.
And thank you to the administration and teachers who made the afternoon possible. Jalen said, “I am so grateful for this community’s continued investment in the STEAM department. From constructing these wonderful spaces on campus to professional development across divisions, this showcase was truly years in the making. As a department, we strive to foster a sense of wonder in students, as well as address ways to cover more content and applicable skills in everything that we do.”
