Tributes for Steve Morris
The San Francisco School celebrates and bids a fond farewell to its Head of School after his 15-year tenure
During this bittersweet semester, the last of Steve Morris’s fifteen year tenure as Head of School, we are celebrating him in many ways in hopes that all who have appreciated his leadership will have an opportunity to bid him a fond farewell.
On March 31, trustees will honor Steve at a Farewell Dinner in the Community Center. Members of the board who served during Steve’s tenure will gather to share memories and celebrate the achievements of the years of partnership between Head, trustees, and officers.
Then on April 30, the entire school community – from alumni, their families, past staff, and current community members – are invited to the Spring Social BBQ, hosted by the Family Association. This event, adjacent to the Redwood Grove of McLaren Park, promises to be a lively occasion with activities, food, and tributes by friends and colleagues.
Current parenting adults and staff will come together on May 6 for the All School Party. In lieu of the spring semester’s customary All School Meeting, the Board of Trustees is sponsoring an evening of fun, music, and dancing.
The staff will have its own opportunity to be with Steve at Oracle Park in May when his home team SF Giants play his hometown team – the Pittsburgh Pirates. For the man who bleeds black and gold, the teachers and administration will be honorary Pennsylvanians for an evening (maybe).
Finally, the students will have their own opportunity to say goodbye in an assembly at the end of the school year.
Though we can never thank Steve sufficiently for all he has done for The San Francisco School, we hope that he will know how much we appreciate him.
One way to honor Steve is to help ensure his legacy through a contribution to The Morris Family Fund for Equity and Justice. Please help us grow this endowed fund to support the continuation of the important work of increasing representation and supporting staff of color long into the future. Thank you.
Last but not least, if you are unable to attend one of the tribute events but would like to wish Steve well, you can contribute to his book of memories.
