SFS Announces the Next Director of Finance and Operations
We are thrilled to welcome Farnaz Devitt to our school!
After an extensive search with candidates from across the United States, we found a wonderful match in Farnaz Devitt, who is currently working at a local independent school and living in our own Portola neighborhood.
Farnaz earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Azad University in Tehran, and she has completed additional coursework in Managerial and Financial Accounting at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Her work experience began many years ago when she ran her own floral design and ceramics business, and she has subsequently over 20 years of experience in non-profit finances, working in accounting and human resources at ODC Dance and as a senior accountant at Menlo School prior to her current position as the business manager at Drew School.
Committed to bringing her business acumen to schools in particular, she says, “My interest in this position stems from my love of schools, where I am able to make a difference in not only students’ lives but the community as a whole. SFS, in particular, is close to my heart as I have lived in the Portola neighborhood for the past 18 years and witnessed the impact that SFS has had in the neighborhood and the community.” Her colleagues share how much being in a school brings her joy and how she understands the importance of the business office in fulfilling the mission of the school.
We thank the search advisory committee members for their participation and guidance throughout this process as well as the parenting adults, trustees, and staff members involved with the finalists’ visits. Please join us in welcoming Farnaz to The San Francisco School.
