Cross Country Remains Strong to the Finish Line

Coached by the alumni dream team of staff members Talia Goodkin ’98, Jalen Allen ’08, and Dimitri Barton ’08, the 5th - 8th grade runners had an incredible fall as individuals and as a team. They practiced hard and ran throughout southeast San Francisco, up the hill in Bernal Heights and circles around McLaren and Palega Parks. Their performance in the regular season’s four meets (as well as their spirits and camaraderie) were strong.
This year, the San Francisco Athletic League (SFAL) introduced a new rule limiting the number of competitors for finals. Last Thursday, the Bears sent eight runners from each division to the finals for a great race. Team finishes were strong:
5/6th Girls- 4th out of 11 school
5/6th Boys- 2nd out of 10 schools
7/8 Girls- 5th out of 11 schools
7/8 Boys- 2nd out of 10 schools
And a shoutout to individual medalists:
Harper (5/6th) - 10th place
Devin (5/6th) - 4th place
Raza (5/6th) - 8th place
Charlie (7/8th) - 9th place
Benicio (7/8th) - 4th place
