6th and 7th Grade Math Teacher
One of the things I love about SFS is that no matter where you are on the campus, you sense a buzz of inquiry in the air.
I grew up in Michigan and attended Michigan State University, where I earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I was first hooked by math and science in middle school when assigned a project to build an egg drop device. Long after the project was over, I continued scaling my roof to test prototypes and dreamed about ways to perfect them. After graduating from college, I joined Teach for America. I was placed in San Jose where I taught Fifth grade for three years and earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Whether students are tinkering with rhythms in the music room or building forts in the Adventure Playground, this school provides an environment where children can take risks, explore their passions, and figure out how things work.
