Walkathon

10:30 AM - 1:00 PM

The Walkathon is our annual fall fundraiser that raises money for important campus improvement projects. Students of all grades walk, jog or run around a ¼ mile track and complete as many laps as possible in a one- hour time span.

Funds from this year’s Walkathon will be used toward facilities upgrades. If every student raises an average of $125 we will raise nearly $35,000! We are looking to begin our Kitchen at the Heart project next summer which would upgrade our nearly 50-year old kitchen! The San Francisco School offers a hot lunch program where meals are cooked on site with organic ingredients for Preschool through Elementary students. The kitchen is a place filled with love from which children and staff are nourished. Our kitchen, however, has much of the same equipment that it did when we moved to 300 Gaven Street in 1969. Upgrades could include an improved layout, more efficient storage, an industrial dishwasher, and new stove.

The All School Picnic follows, and is a great chance to meet and spend time with fellow school families.

Schedule

  • Registration – 10:30 AM
  • Walkathon – 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • All School Picnic – immediately following the Walkathon

Traditionally, families bring their own picnic lunch, blankets and chairs. This year, we will have some food options for purchase courtesy of the 8th grade and their parents! It’s your choice if you’d like to bring or buy your lunch, but please bring blankets and chairs and plan on sticking around for the All School Picnic!  Water and fruit will be provided during the walk.

Guests and alumni are welcome! SFS and Walkathon gear is encouraged. Parents/guardians should help children keep track of their laps, and parents/guardians of preschoolers should plan to walk with their children.
